The Pacific Meso Center Research Laboratory
The Pacific Meso Center is home to the first free-standing international mesothelioma research laboratory in the world.
The state-of-the-art The PMC Research Laboratory, opened in 2011, is dedicated not only to the development of novel treatments for mesothelioma, but also on its prevention. As the first of its kind in the world, The PMC lab was established to lead a focused and collaborative mesothelioma research effort that is independent of the limitations often imposed by academic and private medical institutions. Robert B. Cameron, M.D. leads a distinguished team of physicians and scientists who are the foremost experts in the field of mesothelioma research and treatment. Dr. Cameron has an extensive research background and serves as Scientific Advisor for The PMC. He recently chaired the First International Symposium on Lung-Sparing Therapies for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma in Santa Monica, CA.
Others involved in the research program include Warren Grundfest, M.D., Sherven Sharma Ph.D., Raymond Wong, Ph.D., Irina Ianculescu, Ph.D., Saroj Basak, Ph.D., Dongmei Hou, M.D., Ph.D., and Marko Kostic, MSc. The PMC is proud of its rapidly expanding group of international collaborators who share Dr. Cameron’s vision of an open collaborative effort both in basic and translational science. Together, the research team is focused on bringing the most promising therapies from the lab to the bedside for mesothelioma victims everywhere.
Dr. Cameron commented upon the lab’s opening, “Although I have operated on hundreds of patients suffering from malignant pleural mesothelioma and have reviewed all the recent and past mesothelioma research, I have never seen such enthusiasm and genuine hope that this laboratory embodies and holds for all mesothelioma victims.”
Many thanks to mesothelioma victims, their families, friends, and advocates, for their continued generous support.
